I love Apple Pie and this Betty Crocker Apple Pie recipe is a family favorite! We have it every Thanksgiving and Christmas and any other holiday that requires a delicious dessert. This is my daughter’s special dessert that everyone loves!
You can use frozen pie crusts or your own pie crust recipe. I like to use Pillsbury Pet-Ritz frozen Pie Crusts. I haven’t mastered making my own pie crusts yet. If you have a great recipe for pie crust please share it with us!
Apple Pie Recipe
6 cups thinly sliced peeled apples (6 medium size apples – 3 granny smith and 3 red delicious apples)
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons firm butter
2 teaspoons water
1 tablespoon sugar
2 Frozen pie crust (or you can make your own)
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Follow directions on package for frozen pie crusts.
Mix 1/2 cup sugar, the nutmeg, cinnamon, flour and salt in large bowl. Stir in apples and coat well.
Spoon into pastry-lined pie plate.
Cut butter into small slices and place over apples.
Cover with top pastry and cut small slits in the top. Seal and flute the sides.
Brush top of the crust with 2 teaspoons water and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon sugar.
Cover edge of pie crust with 2-inch strip of foil to prevent it from over-browning. Remove the foil during last 15 minutes of baking.
Bake 40 to 50 minutes.
Cool on wire rack for at least an hour.
